Giubo coupling

For maximum flexibility in the drivetrain

The Giubo coupling is torsionally elastic, angularly movable, and capable of axial and radial misalignment. It reliably dampens shock loads and torsional vibrations – often making complex universal joints or sliding-taper shafts unnecessary.

Why the giubo coupling stands out

Drives that run unevenly or face frequent high starting torques create torque spikes and torsional vibrations, putting shafts, bearings, and gearboxes under heavy stress. The Giubo coupling absorbs these forces elastically, protecting the entire drivetrain – completely maintenance-free.

Its heart is a highly elastic natural rubber coupling ring (standard 60 Shore A), which transmits torque smoothly and evenly while compensating for angular and misalignment errors. Operating reliably in temperatures from −25 °C to +70 °C, the damping behavior can be precisely adapted to your application by choosing the appropriate Shore hardness.

The four key features
Elastic shock absorption
Property 01
Torsionally Elastic

Der The rubber ring absorbs starting shocks smoothly – regardless of rotational direction. Critical resonance speeds can be intentionally shifted by selecting the appropriate rubber hardness. This protects motors, gearboxes, and bearings from overload.

Axial misalignment – friction-free
Property 02
Longitudinally movable

Axial changes in distance between shaft ends – for example, due to thermal expansion – are compensated smoothly and maintenance-free. Sliding-taper shafts are often unnecessary in many applications.

Angular misalignment – softly compensated
Property 03
Angularly movable

Angular deviations between driving and driven shafts are safely and wear-free compensated. In many cases, the Giubo coupling replaces conventional universal joints.

Parallel misalignment – without additional forces
Property 04
Laterally movable

Small parallel displacements of the shafts – for example, due to assembly tolerances – are accommodated without putting extra stress on bearings or shafts. At higher speeds, additional centering is recommended.

 Materials:

Giubo coupling elements are made of elastomer materials based on natural rubber with hardnesses of 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, and 75 Shore A. For special cases, elastomers based on chloroprene are available. Our technical support team is happy to assist you in finding the right solution for your drive system requirements.
